Saigon to Vung Tau
On a recent Onyabike Adventures tour, our intrepid riders began their adventure in Saigon. After navigating the hectic and chaotic Saigonese traffic, they made their way to Ba Ria – Vung Tau. A popular seaside destination, Vung Tau is just a few hours from Saigon. Locals laugh that there are two Vung Taus: Vung Tau during the week and Vung Tau on the weekends. During the week, Vung Tau is relaxed, whereas weekends get a bit wild due to all the weekend escapees from Saigon.

Riders on a stop over at Mui Ne
After a night in Vung Tau, the next destination was Phan Thiet. Phan Thiet is better known to most travelers as Mui Ne, a beach resort area popular with kitesurfers. The area boasts a lovely stretch of beach as well as inexpensive accommodation. It’s popular with a diverse crowd, including significant numbers of Russian tourists and expats.

The ride that followed from Phan Thiet led the drivers to Da Lat, a city in Vietnam’s Central Highlands. The adventure riders encountered some storms along the way, though all remained in good spirits. Da Lat is noteworthy for its reputable culinary scene. To bear witness to this, our riders graced KBe’s Wood-Fired Pizza and Barbecue with a visit. Besides serving delicious pizza and barbeque, KBe’s also brews their own delightful, refreshing beer.
Da Lat to Cat Tien and Saigon
A tour to Da Lat to Cat Tien and Saigon
The final leg of the journey took the adventure riders through Cat Tien National Park. One of the last well-preserved lowland forests in southern Vietnam, Cat Tien boasts plenty for a nature lover. Natural wetlands, massive trees, preserved jungle, and significant wildlife—including crocodiles!—will keep anyone’s interest.
From Cat Tien, our adventure riders made their way back to Saigon’s welcoming arms via the Bao Loc ferry to cross the Dong Nai river. It’s an enjoyable local experience as long as you’re not next to the boat’s diesel engine.
