OYB Office in Hoi An
1-day motorcycle tour
200 km (total distance)
Royal Enfield Himalayan 400
Leaving the coast we find ourselves in open rice farming areas, passing through small villages and getting to see how the Vietnamese people go about their daily lives. We can stop at historical military sites and places of cultural interest and learn some of Vietnam’s fascinating history.
After lunch it’s time to explore the UNESCO World Heritage site. The museum at the bottom has information on the unique culture of the Cham people. Hidden in the jungle, halfway up the sacred mountain are 71 temples to walk around. The temples were built over about 1000 years as the main holy site of the kingdom of Champa. After the collapse of Champa, the temples were initially forgotten, but then used again by the Vietnamese people fighting against the Americans in wartime. On leaving My Son we head back to the coast, through farming areas and scenic views. We will reach the My Son sanctuary in time for lunch, and enjoy some local foods.
Then, it’s back to base for a cold beer!
